A NOTE ABOUT THIS SERIES

These works are paintings on Mylar, with artist-made Mylar collage. The paint used was a wash made from Sumi ink and bronze iridescent acrylic paint. They were part of an exhibit, “Priscilla Fowler: Alchemy,” where all of the works predominantly used these media. The same wash was used to create collage, which was applied to the basic grids of the paintings.

The “alchemy” of the title refers to the mix of bronze and black; to the idea of transformation (as from base metal to gold); and to the transformative nature of art.
