Notes on the Scrolls
These are the first three of a series of scroll-like paintings. They are not framed, so you can clearly see their edges, which I cut by hand.
These paintings were made using acrylic and ink washes on watercolor paper. The emphasis in the paintings is on color, with each scroll containing a wider range of color than I typically used in my paintings prior to these. I wanted them to be lively and vivid.
The inspiration for these works came from Japanese and Chinese scrolls, often combined in groups of three or more to make a triptych. At some point, I hope to mount my scrolls on shoji or similar screens to they can stand on the floor.
