Fine art photography is not about digitally recording a subject. When an image is taken for the purpose of documenting a certain moment in time, this work will more than likely fall into the category of photo-journalism. Fine art photography, on the other hand, is first and foremost about the artist. It is not about capturing what the camera sees; instead, it is more about portraying the feelings and vision the photographer wants to express. In this case, the artist uses the camera only as a tool to create a work of art. And, the deliberate creation of the artist’s work goes beyond the mere clicking of a shutter. The task of processing, printing and presenting the work is also taken into consideration.
