Priscilla Fowler Fine Art Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Reaching Out, Reaching In- Priscilla Fowler, Joanna Michalowicz and Linda Shaffer, featuring the artwork of Priscilla Fowler, Joanna Michalowicz and Linda Shaffer at our new location at 1308 S. Main Street in the Arts District. Preview Thursday, January 5 2023 is the official opening of the exhibition, followed by our First Friday opening reception on January 6 2023 from 6:00-10:00.
"Reaching Out, Reaching In" embraces the abstract work of three artists, Priscilla Fowler, Joanna Michalowicz, and Linda Shaffer. Their art invites the viewer to reach in, finding meaning in shapes, lines, textures and colors; and to reach out, pulling rhythm and nuance from two dimensions into the "real" world.
Each artist has developed a particular vocabulary, which is enjoyable to compare and contrast. Linda's wonderful adeptness with whites and yellows in a strongly geometric context looks great next to Joanna's deep oranges and organically-shaped forms. Priscilla's work is somewhere in between, suggesting deeply feminine forms and a rich metallic palette

Priscilla Fowler is a mixed-media artist whose contemporary two- and three-dimensional abstraction strongly evokes natural forms. She has shown her work in Colorado, Nevada, and nationally, in solo and group shows. Priscilla holds a BFA Summa Cum Laude from Indiana University of PA and a BA in English Literature and Art History. Her gallery, Priscilla Fowler Fine Art, established in 2016, was elected “Best Las Vegas Gallery” by Las Vegas' Desert Companion magazine in 2019.
Joanna Michalowic's paintings are abstract using acrylic and conte crayon on canvas board. She is from Krakow, Poland moving to New York in the late 1980’s. There she worked as a textile restorer for F.J. Hakimain Antiques Gallery and in 1994 received her BFA from Parsons School of Design. She opened Asha Carpets (2000) with her own handmade rug designs until moving to Las Vegas in 2016. Joanna’s art has been represented by the Priscilla Fowler Fine Art Gallery since 2017 and has shown in New York City and internationally including Germany and Italy.
Linda Shaffer is an award-winning full time artist working in collage, painting and mixed media. Linda has a Graduate degree from Loma Linda University. After completing the Gemological Institute of America’s Graduate Jeweler program in 2010, she created the Red Pearl Art brand to encompass both her jewelry designs and art. Linda currently teaches art classes in Boulder City, Nevada, encouraging people to find their authentic fun approach to making art.
