We are excited to announce the opening of our latest exhibition, "Thread & Metal," featuring the beautiful and intricate works of artist Kristin Meuser. The show will take place at the Priscilla Fowler Fine Art Gallery from April 6 to April 29, 2023.
"Thread & Metal" is a retrospective of Kristin Meuser's decade-long exploration of the inner and outer landscape through sewing and metallic painting. Her process involves using torn paper attached to the surface with machine stitching, creating layers that become more complex as she discovers how they connect through color and the juxtaposition of elements.
One of her featured artworks is "Defining Chaos I," an abstract piece that taps into her fascination with the universe and our place within it. Kristin works blindly with reactive acrylic and acids to create rust and patina, revealing themselves over the course of a few hours or days. She then embellishes shapes in acrylic paint and pencil to define the chaos.
Join us for the opening reception of the exhibition on First Friday, April 7, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Kristin's background as a landscape painter and graphic designer provides a foundation for her current work. She has won awards in painting, mixed media, and graphic design, and her current work has been shown in public places in California and Nevada. Her Crows series will also be published this year in a book exploring the impact of birds in the work of fiber artists by Martha Sielman.
