Jung Min, also known as MJ, hails from South Korea and holds an MFA in Visual Studies from the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Currently residing in Las Vegas, Nevada, she is an esteemed faculty member at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Jung Min's artistic endeavors involve a delicate navigation between Eastern and Western cultures, as well as the exploration of individual desires and societal expectations. Her work delves into the internal conflict she experiences as a female Korean living in a foreign country, prompting contemplation of the profound impact of a nation's society, culture, and history.
“I’ve never felt like I belong in society. I often question if I even want to feel “belonging.” Through my art practice, I intend to elaborate on my uncomfortable feelings about navigating these societies, which have had an impact on the development of my identity. My purpose in work is to locate myself to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. I am just an individual who is trying to understand what’s surrounding me and make sense of it” -Jung Min
